Greg Halls
2021 School Board candidate

Greg Halls

My name is Greg Halls and my daughter Imogen (Year 1) and son Felix (Kindy) attend Maylands Peninsula Primary School. We also have Penelope, who will be in Kindy in 2024, so we are going to be around the school for quite some time into the future! With this in mind- I believe I can contribute to the MPPS community by bringing my interest in my kids education and my workplace skills together as a parent representative on the board.

As a parent representative I will bring an 'on the ground' perspective of how the policies of the school play out practically for the families who attend. One of the aspects of MPPS that drew us to the school was its multicultural environment. Coming from a migrant background I understand the importance of schools and their communities in the lives of children who have recently migrated as school was the place that my mother learnt English and her family learnt how to adapt to Australian life. The school community is one of the biggest influences on children outside the home and I want to be able to help to continue to promote the welcoming and diverse families that make up the Maylands school community.

As a Chartered Accountant, I have worked in finance for over 10 years and will be able to interpret financial statements, advise on funding direction and contribution to the long term financial strategic direction of the school.

I am currently a Company Secretary and Director on a number of boards through my work. While this is predominately within the property development and services sector, I believe it is transferable to the education sector as the principles of collaborative and analytical decision making still apply.

As both a parent and through my profession I believe I would be able to positively contribute to the School Board.
